Get up early. Caffeinate. Design enjoyable experiences.

I’m a UX designer that currently works and plays in the Seattle area. I’ve been here for close to ten years and have had the pleasure of working with a wide variety of designers and companies. Design is my passion.

I have been fortunate enough to work for both companies in startup mode and also established fortune 100 companies. These companies have ranged from data heavy search marketing startups to gigantic ecommerce companies with millions of users. This has given me the ability to develop a set of design skills that works well with most products and teams, large or small.

GET EDUCATED.

Before moving to Seattle I grew up on a farm out in Eastern Washington, literally driving tractors and digging ditches. I went to college at Eastern Washington University where I earned a degree in both Visual Design and Computer Science. I ended up finding work with a local tech company right out of school and began building user interfaces right off the bat.

WORK HARD.

My first job out of school was multifaceted and required UI, web development and print design for a security software company in Spokane. In 2007 I moved to Seattle and obtained a senior design role with a startup building mobile experiences. While in Seattle, I’ve built experiences for a wide range of companies which ranged from startups to large corporations.

HAVE FUN.

Not only do I get great joy out of crafting experiences for my users, I also enjoy being active and spending time with the family. If you couldn’t already tell, I have a little bit of a motorcycle problem. Not only do I ride, but my wife and my 6yr old daughter do as well. Outside of motorcycles I enjoy backpacking, camping, traveling and spending a lazy day in a hammock.

Matt is a UX rock star! He works fast and with a high degree of intuition to arrive at smart, user-centric solutions. The quality of his work is also impeccable. I was fortunate to work with Matt for over a year, and would welcome the chance to work with him again.
