Capitol Records Mobile App

Capitol Records worked with the team at Action Engine to build a mobile application that would connect the companies artists with their fans.

THE PROJECT

Capitol Records came to the team at Action Engine and wanted to build a mobile application that would connect the companies artists with their fans. The goal of the project was to build out a native mobile application that allowed users to stay up to date on tours, news and new albums. This was pre App Store and we needed to support a plethora of devices which included Blackberry, Java and Symbian.

MY ROLE

I was the mobile designer on the project and worked with the product team to build out the experience. I worked along side a UX research lead and creative director to help define the user flows and experience. I provided everything from the initial conceptual designs to the loading animations across the experience.

THE CHALLENGE

There were a few challenges at the time with this project. We had to support a large number of artists with their own unique look brand as well as a company that had its own. Another big challenge at the time was the sheer number of phones we supported was daunting. The lack of unity between phones was a big challenge and designing an experience that worked well on all phones and input types as a challenge.
